Many of you have continuously asked me about my beauty regimen and what I use for makeup and what kind of brushes do I use, etc. Well, ladies, this one’s for you!
Some of you might already know that the love I have for hair & makeup is REAL and as some might know, I am a licensed cosmetologist & I went to the best school for hair and makeup. Like seriously, I’m so thankful I was able to go to the school I did because I learned so much. That being said let’s get to it.
Ok, so I start my mornings with a fresh face, normally just getting out of the shower and have washed my face with my favorite cleanser and then, moisturizing afterwards. Next I will start with my foundation first. If you have a lot of problem areas you can use cover up first prior to applying your foundation. I have a couple different foundations that I rotate but for the summers I really like Cover FX foundation which can be found at Sephora. This foundation is tied for favorite with MAC Studio Sculpt foundation which is also the other foundation I love. Both of the foundations I just mentioned are a heavier coverage but like anything, you don’t like a heavier coverage just use less. I apply my foundation with my Beau Gachis kabuki brush (which is like the most amazing brush to apply foundation with because it goes on so naturally and effortlessly). I have the Beau Gachis 7 piece brush set and its AMAZING and really inexpensive too! Do yourself a favor and order this brush set, it will change the way you do makeup and how you look, honest to God!
Next up, I set my makeup with my Laura Mercier translucent loose setting powder (also another item I would absolutely buy because it makes a HUGE difference in your makeup regimen). For those of you who HATE having so much makeup on that you feel like your face can’t breathe, you will not feel this way with this powder. I promise! It’s so light that you forget it’s on. I then apply my contouring makeup. I use a wide range of contouring makeup from MAC, to Tarte, to Ish, and more. The contouring palette I’ve been using most lately is from Tarte and it’s linked right here. This has really great colors for the summer and it has your, highlighting colors, contouring, blush, and bronzers as well. You can even use these colors on other areas of your face but that’s for another post. Next, I put on my blush and I love my Nars blush. It has great pigment and stays on really well (especially if you have powder on your face prior to applying blush. Blush will always stay on longer if you put powder on first. Same goes for contouring makeup) and there are so many different colors to choose from.
Now you apply your eyeshadow colors. This is a super fun part because there’s soooo many colors and concoctions you can play around with. I have so many different shades & brands of eye shadows but a good neutral palette that I would recommend to get started with (especially if you’re just getting started) would be Urban Decays Naked2 Basic palette. If you are a master makeup lover and love your shimmer eye shadows, try this palette. It’s SO much fun! Once you’re eyeshadow is on point, you add your eyeliner. If you want a gel eye liner I highly suggest this MAC fluidline gel eyeliner by MAC. If you’re going to try the gel liner you have to use this brush to apply it. It’s the most precise. I have this gel and brush and have used this for years and it goes on like butter!!! It’s perfect for sharp lines and perfect wings. If you prefer a pencil eyeliner I would suggest the Anastasia Darkside Waterproof liner. As far as mascara, I really LOVE the Too Faced “Better Than Sex” mascara…it’s literally better than sex! Ok maybe not, but close. Lol. Another fav mascara of mine is by Benefit Cosmetics called “They’re Real!” and this is a must try!! Your lashes will honestly look like you have falsies on with this mascara! The other mascara I use is by MAC and it’s really awesome as well! It’s called Haute & Naughty Too Black Lash and it has two brushes – one for the top and a smaller one for the bottom lashes! Ah, what will they think of next! And lastly, Makeup Forever “Smoky Lash” has a great mascara (pictured above) that I always keep in my emergency makeup bag. After you’re done all of your done using all of your powders, then do your brows. I only use Anastasia Perfect Brow Pencil for my brows because it’s the most natural looking and well, plain & simple, it just always looks perfect and “on fleek”!
Lastly, you get to choose your lip color! THIS is my FAVORITE part of putting my face on for the day! I have so so soooo many lipsticks, lip glosses, & lip stains but a couple of my favorites are MAC “Faux” (I wear this almost everyday), Tarte “Happy”, Tarte “Surfer Girl”, & MAC “Hot Gossip” are some of my go-to lipsticks that never disappoint. PS…Pay no mind to my Surfer Girl lipstick..my 3yo got into it on my husbands watch and painted her face and used just about my entire lipstick to do so. Sigh. He thought it was funny.
